Are parklets permanent?

Parklets are temporary parks that illustrate the potential of reclaiming streets for people and nature. Depending on your climate parkways can be placed in the street year-round or packed up before the winter and reinstalled in the spring. Parkways parklets are designed to be easily disassembled and stored.

What are the parklets made of?

Each parklet is made from recycled, renewable, and sustainably harvested materials.

Who can use the parklets?

Parklets are public space. Although parklets can be sponsored by community groups and businesses, they are for public use and enjoyment, and can increase street vibrancy and quality of life.

What are the benefits of having parklets?

Not only can parklets increase a sense of place in your neighborhood. They can have other ecosystem benefits such as increasing air and water quality, sustainable agriculture, sequestering carbon, boosting sales of surrounding businesses, and encouraging pedestrian and bicycle traffic.

Is each parklet the same or can I customize them based on my use?

You can choose what model meets your needs.  You can customize with features like planters, seating and bike parking based on your use.

What if I don't have a green thumb?

We have designed each parklet to be as self-sustaining as possible. Each planter can have an olla, a low maintenance unglazed clay pot which requires water at least once a week. We also plant neighborhood and climate specific and hearty trees, herbs, and flowers!

Do I need to hire an architect to make sure I am meeting design guidelines?

No, we have taken care of that for you. Each Parkways parklet is designed to meet ADA and other city guidelines.
